MOUNT PLEASANT, N.Y. -- Former Mount Pleasant Police Chief Brian Fanelli's scheduled court case has been continued to a later date to be determined.
Fanelli was scheduled for a preliminary hearing Wednesday morning at the federal courthouse in White Plains. It was his first court appearance since his arraignment on Jan. 23 after being arrested and charged with possession of child pornography. According to the Department of Homeland Security, Fanelli downloaded more than 120 files containing child pornography onto his home computer.
If convicted, Fanelli could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He has already lost his job as chief of police in Mount Pleasant, a position that he was appointed to in November. He was also removed as a catechism teacher at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Shrub Oak.
