Earlier this year, New Rochelle city officials launched a pilot pay-by-phone program for meters on Main Street - between Centre and North Avenue - that allowed drivers to pay for parking through their cell phones, eliminating the need to constantly feed the meter with quarters when visiting the downtown business district.

Beginning on Wednesday, that program has been expanded to include municipal lots and on-street meters.

According to officials, by using the free ParkMobile app, “parkers can start a parking session by putting in plate and meter numbers, and then extend time remotely, and even opt-in to receive a notification 15 minutes before meter time expires.”

"We are very much looking forward to furthering our opportunities through our partnership with New Rochelle and LAZ Parking," ParkMobile CEO Jon Ziglar stated. "ParkMobile has been extremely successful and well-received since our initial launch in the city, and we are excited to broaden our services so that we can further enhance the customer parking experience."

The application can be downloaded online.

“We are continually seeking ways to improve the parking experience in downtown, and the availability of the ParkMobile app broadens the payment options,” Deputy Commissioner Paul Vacca stated when announcing the program. “Parkers now have the choice of cash, credit card or the app. The technology is there, and we are putting it to work.”
