An accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer hauling scrap metal has resulted in the closure of all northbound lanes on the Tappan Zee Bridge on Friday morning.

The crash, reported at 9 a.m., is between the Tappan Zee Bridge Tarrytown tolls and the TZB span, with backups on I-287 stretching back to White Plains.

Southbound lanes were initially also closed after the crash. There are now heavy rubber-necking delays on the southbound lanes.

The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
