NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- The New York Times recently detailed the struggles New Rochelle High School and the surrounding community have had following the fall of local hero Ray Rice.
Following Rice's indefinite suspension from the NFL, New Rochelle school officials decided to take down Rice's Baltimore Ravens jersey as well as a photo placard. Students, in apparent act of protest, have replaced the placard with pictures of Rice on more than one occasion, The New York Times said.
While most residents remain appalled at Rice's violent actions toward his then-fiancée, now-wife, others can't help but look back on the myriad of good deeds he has done for his hometown, The Times reported.
