Nine Vehicles Broken Into In New Rochelle

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Nine vehicles parked down the street from 794 North Ave. were broken into through the breaking of a passenger side window early Thursday morning, said New Rochelle Police Department Captain and Public Information Officer Joseph Schaller.

$10 in assorted currency was reported missing from a 2000 Pontiac Boneville. A pair of sunglasses was reported missing from a 2010 Honda. An iPod and GPS were reported missing from a 2004 Audi. An Apple iPod, and Garmin GPS was reported taken from a 2002 Toyota Camry. A Garmin GPS also was reported taken from a 2005 Jeep Liberty.

A 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, 2010 Lexus, 2004 Ford Windstar, and a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder also were broken into but nothing was reported missing.

Police believe the incidences are connected and are investigating them.

In other incidents:

A sound system, valued at $3,100, was taken from a 1997 Chevy Malibu parked on the street in front of 74 Charles St. between 4 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.There were no signs of forced entry.

An Apple iPod Touch, valued at $300, and money were reported missing Wednesday from a 2010 Acura parked at 14 Lawton St.

$705 and credit cards were reported missing from an unlocked 2008 Hyundai parked in the parking lot of an apartment building at 33 Lincoln Ave. Wednesday afternoon.

This is regrettable. Police coverage in the wee hours is thin and we all have to be vigilant.

Wake up folks stop leaving GPS MONEY ETC ETC in plain site.Also if you have a GPS mount on your windshield take it off.
