NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- New Rochelle's Lawton Street is set to become a two-way street starting Wednesday.
The street will change from a one-way to a two-way access on Wednesday "in an effort to provide better vehicular access to businesses and parking facilities in the Downtown," according to a notice from the city. Signs have been placed on Main Street near Pintard and Huguenot Street at Lawton Street to advise residents of the change, according to the notice. The portion of Church Street between Main Street and Clinton Place will also become two-way on this date, according to the notice.
“Opening these important thoroughfares will improve traffic flow throughout the downtown, and make access to parking easier,” said Councilmember Ivar Hyden in the notice.
Residents in the area are urged to exercise caution while the new traffic patterns become established, according to the notice.
