New Rochelle's Charm, City Life Gain Spotlight In New York Times Report

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Arts, culture and diversity are among the reasons a couple bought a grand home and moved to New Rochelle from Manhattan, according to a New York Times article.

The diverse public school population includes "44 percent Hispanic or Latino and 22 percent African-American," said the Times article, citing state Education Department data.

“Whoever you are, whatever you are interested in, whatever your sense of an ideal lifestyle is, you will be welcomed and have an opportunity to pursue your goals," New Rochelle Mayor Noah Bramson reportedly told the New York Times.

The mayor's mother, Mira Bramson, reportedly likes that she can "age in place in the city," said the New York Times.

Other appealing aspects of New Rochelle include "nine miles of coastline and a variety of parks and nature reserves," according to the Times report.
