Developer Zinrock Resources has requested a zoning change for the area from the City Council as the first step in its effort to develop the 14.7-acre property into 72 units of low-rise condominiums at Beckwith Pointe Beach Club, said lohud.com.
If approved, the zoning change would allow multifamily dwellings in addition to the existing uses, but the future of the beach club is not clear. The new zone would also require the developer to reserve 50 percent of the beach area for public open space or pay into a city-run recreational fund, added lohud.com.
