New Rochelle...Did You Know?

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., - Did you know that  New Rochelle Fire Company No.3 on North Avenue was the Olympia Engine Company from 1905 to 1912?

The house was built in 1902 and established in 1905. The dwelling had two horse drawn units from the Olympia Hose Company.

The location became New Rochelle Fire Department Company 3 in 1912 with 24 firefighters and officers assigned in four shifts.

The station is located in the middle of the City and is the first or second responder with 75 percent of the city within its range. From 1986 to 1987 the house had a major structural renovation, which included the replacement of the garage floor, support system and foundation.

In 2009, the building was awarded the Heritage Award.
