NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Did you know that activist Ruby Dee used her celebrity status with fellow activist Ossie Davis to help promote the cause of African-Americans and other minorities?
Dee and Davis moved to New Rochelle in 1963 and lived near the former house of Revolutionary War activist Thomas Paine.
The New Rochelle Public Library’s theater is named after Davis.
