Through the ParkMobile application, New Rochelle city officials have launched a pilot pay-by-phone program for meters on Main Street - between Centre and North Avenue - that that will allow drivers to pay for parking through their cell phones, eliminating the need to continually feed the meter while they visit the downtown business district.
According to officials, by using the free ParkMobile app, “parkers can start a parking session by putting in plate and meter numbers, and then extend time remotely, and even opt-in to receive a notification 15 minutes before meter time expires.”
The application can be downloaded online.
“We are continually seeking ways to improve the parking experience in downtown, and the availability of the ParkMobile app broadens the payment options,” Deputy Commissioner Paul Vacca stated. “Parkers now have the choice of cash, credit card or the app. The technology is there, and we are putting it to work.”
