NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Northbound traffic on New Rochelle’s North Avenue must merge into the lefthand lane due to work on the North Avenue Utility Relocation Project.
Cones and concrete barriers guide drivers into the left lane. The right-most lane is being used for workers and construction vehicles.
Check back with the New Rochelle Daily Voice for updates.
The project is being conducted by the New York State Thruway Authority to relocate electric, cable, telephone, water, fiber optic and natural gas lines from the existing North Avenue Bridge to a parallel span constructed in 2010.
Work on the utility lines is expected to be completed by May 2013, the state said. Demolition and replacement of the North Avenue Bridge is tentatively scheduled to begin in 2015.
