New Rochelle Police Charge Two With Pot Possession

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Henry Skyers, 30, was charged with marijuana possession after being stopped at midday Wednesday for backing unsafely across the intersection of Union and Charles streets, New Rochelle police Capt. Joseph Schaller said.

Skyers had marijuana in his front pocket, and police found 25 more bags of pot after he let officers search his vehicle following his initial arrest, Schaller said.

Skyers was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. Police Officer Paul D'Erasmo made the arrest.

In a separate incident early Thursday, Brandon Wallace, 22, of Buffalo, N.Y., was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, after New Rochelle Police Officer Ryan Downs questioned him about a report of criminal mischief at 476 Main St.

Downs discovered that there was a warrant out for Wallace's arrest, and police then found five glass jars of marijuana on him, said Schaller, the department's public information officer.

The following item was also reported by New Rochelle police:

iPad Theft: Joe Cerbone, 29, of Yonkers was charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor, after stealing an iPad from the table where the 22-year-old victim was sitting in Java Dream Café, 265 Huguenot St., police said. The victim called the police after not being able to find his iPad at the cafe, after he realized it was missing when he was driving home. The device was found in a 2012 Kia Soul after the victim tracked its location through its GPS. Police Officer Ryan Downs made the arrest.
