NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - The New Rochelle Police Department will have increased patrols Saturday evening and night for New Year's Eve festivities according to Lt. George Marshall.
The department does not know how many additional squad cars or officers will be out, or if sobriety checkpoints will be set up for the popular drinking holiday.
The force had 10-12 extra officers throughout city streets to monitor any "night before halloween" activities in order to ensure city streets were kept safe.
Normal procedures are expected however compared to pro-active, and preventative measures taken for "Y2K" in the year 2000.
