New Rochelle Man Punched, Robbed on North Avenue

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A 20-year-old New Rochelle man was robbed of his wallet and $100 cell phone Tuesday night as he was walking on North Avenue, police Capt. Joseph Schaller said.

The resident was confronted by two males, one of whom punched him in the face, causing him to fall into nearby bushes. The assailant punched him a second time as they stole his possessions, said Schaller, the department's public information officer.

Two passers-by followed the muggers down Lincoln Avenue, but the passers-by lost them around Muir Place and Glenmore Drive.

Officers found the victim’s brown wallet in the 400 block of Lincoln Avenue.

Burglary: A $1,000 industrial refrigerator was taken from the VIP Beach Club at 590 Davenport Ave. between March 10 and Tuesday afternoon. Police noted that a house near the club is under renovation.
