NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – A New Rochelle man was charged with second-degree menacing, a misdemeanor, after threatening a member of another group with a machete Sunday New Rochelle Police Department Capt. Joseph Schaller said.

Edgar Lopez,18, of 828 Main St., Apt. 2, New Rochelle, endangered a 25 year-old New Rochelle resident with the tool as he stood at 97 Walnut St. after the group he was with began to dispute with another group, police said.

Officers found a large group fighting, and five male individuals getting into a red Honda Civic after receiving a call from the victim, police said.

The following items also were reported by the New Rochelle police.

Restaurant Burglary: $100 was taken from the cash register of Tasty Kitchen, 340 Pelham Road, after the business was broken into between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 7:26 a.m. Saturday. The pet store owner next door discovered the front door was broken.

Home Burglary: An iPad, a jewelry box containing about $,1500 in jewelry and a laundry bag were taken from a 26 Glenwood Ave. residence Sunday afternoon. Laundry was left on the floor of the home.

Robbery: A New Rochelle man was hit by a female individual at a 1 Odell Place apartment Friday after he did not give her $40 to buy milk. The man went to Sound Shore Medical Center with minor scratches on the right side of his hand, and was released.
