New Rochelle Library July Events

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - 

Book Sale

The Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library are holding a used book sale on Friday, July 8th in the library’s lobby. From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., visitors will be able to purchase from a wide selection of books, audiotapes, and cookbook and giftbooks at bargain prices.

The used book sale helps fund the library’s many public programs, equipment, and other needs not met by the library’s operating budget.

The Friends of the Library Bookstore is open on Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays (except July 2nd) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The bookstore is located on the first floor of the library next to the Community Relations Office, which is near the back of the library.

Music & Dance

There will be international music and dance every Tuesday, beginning July 5th. Performances begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Ossie Davis Theater. First-come, first serve basis. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.

July 5th: Korean Drums and Dance with Vongku Pak

July 12th: Brazilian Capoeria

July 19th: Russian Music and Dance

July 26th: Arabian Dance by Aszmara with Music of Armenia, Turkey, and Egypt

August 9th: Bokandeye African Dance and Drum Troupe

Infants, Toddlers, and Pre-Schoolers

The library offers free summer programs for children ages six months to five years. These are on a first-come, first-serve basis, and no appointments are necessary.

Bouncing Babies: Mother Goose program including songs, music, movement, and a story for children. Friday, July 8th - August 12th. 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at the main library and from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Huguenot Children's Library.

Let's Pretend: For children ages three to five years. It includes theater through games, songs, nursery, and on-stage experiences with Nora Maher. Held on Fridays from July 8th - August 12th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. at the main library, and from 12;30 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Huguenot Children's Library.

Preschool Story Time: For children ages three to five years. This program includes stories, songs, and takehome crafts. Tuesdays, July 5th - August 9th, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at the main library. Five sessions are held at the Huguenot Children's Library from July 11th - August 8th, 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.

Bedtime Stories: For children ages three to five years. This program encourages children to bring pajamas and stuffed animals. Held on Mondays, July 11th - August 8th from 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the main library. Six sessions will also be held at the Huguenot Children's Library on Wednesdays, July 6th - August 10th, 6:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Registration is required, so call 914-632-8954.
