NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. Seventy-five parking meters from different vendors are being installed on several different blocks on and around Main, Lawton, and Division streets, the city said.
The additions are part of the Queen City's ongoing parking upgrades in the downtown area. The city will conduct a pilot program with parking meters that accept credit cards, the city said. The new meters will accept both coins and credit-card payments.
Each of the three models will communicate wirelessly and all credit-card information will be encrypted, with no information stored on the machines, the city said.
The city will monitor each meters status to ensure they are functioning properly, the city said. The machines will not give out paper receipts, and residents will not have to remember space numbers.
More information on the pilot program can be found on the citys website.
