New Rochelle Independence Primary Goes to Spertus

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – City Council Independence Party District Five candidate Ilyse Spertus beat two-term incumbent Barry Fertel in Tuesday’s primary, 18 to 12, according to a press release Wednesday morning.

“I am grateful for the support of every voter who turned out last night, and I value the backing of the Independence Party during the campaign process,” said Spertus. “If elected, I intend to work hard and faithfully represent each and every one of our citizens, regardless of party affiliation, to make our home, New Rochelle, the best that it can be."
