On Thursday, city officials announced that for the 24th consecutive year, the city was awarded the Certificate for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States of Canada for last year’s financial report.

Each year, a panel of impartial judges from the CAFR determine which cities in North America “meet the high standards of the program,” by demonstrating a “constructive ‘spirit of full disclosure’ to clearly community its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.”

“We commend our Finance Department for once again receiving such a distinguished honor,” New Rochelle City Manager Charles Strome said.

Finance Commissioner Howard Rattner noted that the award represents a team effort from the entire department.

“This award is a tribute to their professionalism and integrity.” he said. “The Certificate of Achievement is a significant accomplishment that recognizes the fine work of our entire staff.”

The CAFR can be found on the City’s website newrochelleny.com, at the City Clerk’s office in City Hall or in the New Rochelle Public Library.
