New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce Serves Community

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Eli Gordon grabbed the reigns of the New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce in 2010 from Denise Lally and has not looked back.

Gordon prides himself in helping the organization increase in membership from 83 businesses to at least 282, which he says is all made possible through making the organization well-known throughout the community that it serves.

“We try and tell people that we have networking events,” Gordon said. “Somebody’s got to keep on beating the drum. That’s my job. I’m the drum-beater.”

The chamber holds various seminars and meetings throughout the year, including its Business to Business Table Top Expo, giving individuals an opportunity to network with businesses and college’s including Long Island University and Monroe College.

The chamber works with other business improvement entities and local banks to help the organization fulfill its mission in helping serve the community by offering various events throughout the year to help its members serve their customers more effectively.

Gordon said the organization also works with other neighboring chambers, such as Mount Vernon and Pelham, to create a collaborative effort among each other in the community.

Upcoming events for the local New Rochelle Chamber of Commerce chapter include a tree lighting at Memorial Plaza Dec. 1, followed by the chamber’s holiday party at the Backyard Pub on Main Street beginning at 6 p.m.

The chamber just wrapped its major sponsorship in the 48th Annual Valenti Thanksgiving Parade Saturday.

In addition to his executive director duties, Gordon hosts a radio show, “Chamber Chat,” on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month on New Rochelle’s local radio station, on the AM dial WVOX 1460.

This Wednesday’s guest will be John Falcone, president and COO of Main Street Connect, which publishes 32 daily news sites throughout Westchester, and City of New Rochelle School Superintendent Richard Organisciak.
