NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Residents can start thinking about breaking out their rakes and preparing for New Rochelle's fall leaf pickups, which are slated to begin Monday, Oct. 15.
Leaves must either be raked to the curb and stacked in long windrows or bagged, according to a city announcement. In addition to Oct. 15, pickup dates are Nov. 3, 10 and 17 and Dec. 1, 8, 15 and 28.
Leaves should be in biodegradable 30- to 40-gallon paper bags or in open containers weighing no more than 75 pounds, the city said. Leaves placed in plastic will not be collected. Leaves also cannot block storm water catch basins, fire hydrants and traffic lanes.
The city will update the collection schedule weekly. Residents can find additional leaf removal information on the city’s website.
They can call the leaf removal hot line at 914-654-6510 for more information. Those with other inquiries or concerns can call 914-235-4029 Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Yard waste collection and alternate side of the street sweeping will stop until spring. Alternate side of the street parking rules remain in effect.
