New Rochelle Awarded for Financial Report

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The City of New Rochelle has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (CAFR) by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its fiscal year 2010 financial report according to a statement from the city.

“We commend our Finance Department for once again receiving such a distinguished honor,” said City Manager Charles Strome in a statement.

This is the twenty-first consecutive year the city has received the award. It marks the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting.

“This award is a tribute to their professionalism and integrity,” said Finance Commissioner Howard Rattner in a statement. “The Certificate of Achievement recognizes the fine work of our entire staff.”

The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report has been judged by an unbiased panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR, according to the city’s statement.

The document can be found on the city’s website newrochelleny.com, at the City Clerk’s office in City Hall or in the New Rochelle Public Library.
