New Rochelle Art Association Converses With Women Voters League

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle Art Association President Jesse Sanchez discussed upcoming association events for its 100th anniversary year during the New Rochelle League of Women Voters monthly Coffee and Conversation gathering on Friday at the New Rochelle Public Library.

Sanchez informed league members about the association’s upcoming events , which include a “Then and Now Centennial Show” on June 14 and 15. Pieces will be available for pickup July 10.

League Officer for Coffee and Conversation Susan Fleming was one of many members present and was impressed by the work of the association.

“It’s so cool what you guys have done, taking what was done in (19)43 and putting that into artwork,” Fleming said during the gathering.

The event will be held at the College of New Rochelle’s Mooney Center, and is open to members of the association. Artwork will be selected from works submitted. Current members of the association will also be able to exhibit their works.

Sanchez also discussed the progress the association has made, along with its goals, which include collaborating with New Rochelle Downtown Business Improvement District.

“We’ve been appreciative by the BID willing to help bring people into the city,” Sanchez said.

The New Rochelle League of Women Voters hosts monthly coffee and conversation events where people can bring questions and comments about the chosen area of focus pertaining to the city and surrounding community. Coffee, tea and light refreshments are served at the free of charge gatherings.

Barbara Davis is the next scheduled speaker on March 16. Davis will be discussing “Outstanding Women in New Rochelle’s History” in celebration of Women’s History Month.
