NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — Empire Harley Davidson Owners Group Head Road Captain Rigo Toro is pleased to have the dealership included in a stop on the Nation of Patriots Tour.
“It’s truly an honor to be asked to host this event,” said Toro.
Various HOG owners’ groups take their turn in transporting an American flag during the 100-day, 48-state tour that honors members of the United States armed forces and raises awareness for veterans.
Money raised from the tour is directly donated to struggling families of wounded veterans across the country; $300 was donated to the tour Friday.
Peter Kachuda of the Ellington, Conn., owners’ group, TSI Harley Davidson, handed over the flag to Empire on Friday in a standard ceremony held on every stop along the tour.
“I think that as citizens of the United States and veterans of our armed forces, it’s important for us to support the United States and pay tribute to the flag and all that it stands for us,” said Kachuda.
“For all of the sacrifices that our military — past, present and future — have and will make to keep our flag flying free, the little that we can do is nothing in comparison,” he said.
Toro and other Empire members will take the flag to Bob’s Harley Davidson at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in south New Jersey.
