HASTINGS-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. – The new 80,000 square foot Lord & Taylor opened at Ridge Hill in Yonkers on Friday to glowing reviews from lower Westchester residents.

“It’s really beautiful,” said Yonkers resident Kerry Schmid.  “It’s been good we’ve been coming [to Ridge Hill] since they opened in the fall and they did a lot of great things for the kids at the holiday time.”

This is Lord & Taylor’s 11th store in New York and its second full-line store to open this year.  The opening has created 116 new jobs, store officials said.

“The Westchester customer loves Lord & Taylor and our most productive store outside of Fifth Avenue in the entire company is in Eastchester,” said Richard Baker, governor and CEO of the Hudson's Bay Company, which is the parent company of Lord & Taylor.  “We listened to our customers and what they told us was we aren’t properly servicing this part of the county.”

Residents from all over made their way to the grand opening of the new store within the 1.3 million square foot mixed-use center.

“I think it’s a good fit,” said Bronx resident Frances Rubino.  “It’s very convenient, everything is in one place.  It’s beautiful and very well organized, I’ll say that.”

With parts of the area still under construction, Ridge Hill features shopping, condominiums, a movie theatre and several restaurants.
