NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Iona College will hold a charity softball game with rival Concordia College July 12. Proceeds will be given to New Rochelle’s Hope Community Services.
“The Iona vs. Concordia Charity Softball game was started last year with one main objective: to give back to our local community, where there is real need among our neighbors,” said Iona Graduate Admissions Counselor and event co-chair Regina Reilly.
“This year our charity recipient is HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle,” she said. “We are proud to share this objective with our Concordia colleagues---and we look forward to another spirited rivalry----all in good fun---and always for a good cause.”
The event will be held at Iona’s Rice Oval Baseball Field at 5:30 p.m, and is open to all employees from both schools. Participants can begin practicing at 5 p.m.
A $20 per player donation is required when employees sign up. The school asks people who don’t want to play, but want to watch the game to donate $5.00.
Those interested can contact Iona College admission’s employee Lisa O'Malley at lomalley@iona.edu.
$20 donations can be dropped off at the graduate admissions office in Iona’s McSpedon Hall Monday. Game day t-shirts can also be picked up at this time.
