The Thanksgiving drive, which was established 10 years ago and spearheaded by the BOCES Homeless Student Program, included enough food to feed 10 families living at the center.

The center is run by Westhab, Inc., an affordable housing and supportive services provider.

Among the items donated were turkey, gravy, canned vegetables, hot chocolate, pudding, jello, and pumpkin and apple pies.

BOCES Harrison-based employees Maria McGinty and Dina Roselli helped organize the drive in their building, while Chris Jansen, a treasurer at the BOCES Rye Brook office, collected goods from workers at that location.

“I absolutely love doing this every year,” said Roselli, a Harrison resident. “I think that people don’t realize there are so many families, including neighbors in our own backyard, who do not have enough food on their tables each night.”

Roselli said that when she started the drive 10 years ago, they were only able to put together supplies for two complete dinners.

“I’m beyond happy that we could help 10 families this year,” she added.
