NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Artist Hilary Zelson will have an exhibit titled “Dripping in Glitter” at Ivar Hayden's Backstreet Gallery and Framing in New Rochelle from April 1 to April 30.
A reception is planned for April 28 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Zelson is a 2007 Mamaroneck High School graduate. She went on to Union College in Schenectady, graduating magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Art in 2011 and departmental honors.
On display will be a dynamic mix of Zelson’s work in contemporary watercolors and an array of glitter paintings. Zelson developed a new media using glitter on paper instead of paint to create the sparkling and eye-catching pieces.
The exhibition includes Zelson’s painting “Colorful Tears,” which was recently part of the prestigious 30th annual "Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors" in Old Forge, N.Y., according to information from the artist.
Zelson was the youngest artist included in the show.
"Colorful Tears" was selected as the background for the billboard advertising for the Art Center Old Forge, VIEW. The painting also serves as the background for the Art Center program brochure.
Zelson was also honored as one of seven artists included in "Young Talent 2012” at the Washington Art Association in Washington Depot, Conn., in January.
Zelson works as an art instructor at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and as an art instructor for an after-school program in Massachusetts.
