Altercation Sends New Rochelle Youth to Hospital

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- A 17-year-old victim went to Sound Shore Medical Center early Saturday morning where an enlarged bullet was discovered in his back after he initially thought he was kicked during an altercation a few hours earlier at North Avenue and Anderson Street, according to New Rochelle Police Department Captain and Public Information Officer Joseph Schaller.

Officers responded an hour later to examine the incident after the victim alerted the police department after the pain worsened, Schaller said. The individual has since left the hospital.

Also on the blotter:

- Michael Martinez was arrested and charged for third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, and another man was charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, for their role in a large altercation on Webster Avenue Sunday.
