The county recently cut $2 million in funding for its Invest-In-Kids programs.

YVC's mission is dedicated to serving at-risk youth and has served more than 7,000 since its inception in 2008. YVC aims to improve the life quality of youth by encouraging them to become active, productive members of their schools, communities and families as well as providing a safe, supportive environment.

"Power of Peace" is YVC's signature program. The program is an initiative of conflict resolution and anti-violence centered on the development of leadership, collaboration, teamwork, respect, cultural awareness and decision making.

YVC served more than 1,500 youth in Columbia, Schenectady and Westchester counties and the schools request the return of the "Power of Peace" program every year in an effort to lower the rate of violent incidences through its conflict resolution training.

YVC's fundraising goal is $30,000 and raised nearly $8,000 in five days.
