LoPriore, who's been "vining" for two and a half years, was recently nominated for a Shorty award, the "Oscars" of new media recognition thanks in part to his postings of "squid hands," something sassy girls do and comparisons of what masculine guys do vs. what feminine guys do.

The awards will be held April 20 in NYC at which point he'll find out if he won "Vine Star of the Year," though, as they say, it's an honor just to be nominated. LoPriore is both thrilled and humbled.

"It's definitely weird to me as I didn’t post that much this year," said the 27-year-old Hastings resident.

He even admits to being "kind of bummed" he "only" has 1.6 million followers.

"I slowed myself down and took some time off," he said. "Though I'm gearing up again."

He said his inspiration for his vines, which average 1,000 likes along with 120 million loops on YouTube comes from years of watching "Saturday Night Live" as well as from wanting to make people smile.

"It's definitely strange to know this many people are watching me but it also makes me feel better to know Im making people happy," he said.

He admits Westchester's harsh winter has slowed him down, but he's excited for spring where he can be a bit "crazy again."

As to what got him into vining in the first place?

"I've always loved entertaining people," he said. "I guess I just love attention."

He also said he saw the app when it first came out and played around with it.

"I like making short movies," he said, "The rest just came naturally."

As for what happens if he wins?

"It would be really nice and a great honor," he said. "But I'd still be the same guy. I really just feel happy knowing I'm making people laugh."
