Last month, as part of Volunteer New Rochelle!, the organization launched a city-specific web portal, where they will showcase a special list of local opportunities to get involved with various community-based projects.
Additionally, Volunteer New York! has pledged support for two programs in New Rochelle later this summer: the Lincoln Avenue Corridor cleanup in August and the annual Street Fair in September. A Community Clean-Up Day has also been scheduled, rain or shine, beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, with volunteers meeting at the Remington Boys and Girls Club on Guidon Place.
“Volunteer New York! is really thrilled to have this chance to directly focus our efforts and expertise in New Rochelle,” Executive Director Alisa Kesten said in a statement announcing the partnership. “We view this partnership as an innovative way to bring an efficient and creative boost to deepen the capacity of wonderful nonprofits here in the city.
“Volunteer New Rochelle! will encourage a wider pipeline of volunteers to share their time, talent and passion to make a difference.”
With the partnership in place, Volunteer New York! will assist New Rochelle non-profit organizations in advertising their volunteer needs. Local opportunities available will help improve youth education, hunger, senior services and the arts in the city.
New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson lauded the new partnership, calling on local organizations to take advantage of the new services courtesy of Volunteer New York!
“The new stronger partnership will make it easier than ever before for volunteers to apply their energy and talent to the needs of our community,” he said. “I encourage all of our non-profits and organizations to list their opportunities, and all residents to see where they can assist.
“Volunteerism helps to better connect us with our neighbors, while addressing real community needs — and almost all of us have the capacity to contribute in some way to the common good.”
