The annual award recognizes distinctive academic, athletic, leadership, service and other achievements and contributions. The awards were conferred Thursday in Albany in a ceremony that was attended by SUNY New Paltz President Donald P. Christian and Vice President for Student Affairs L. David Rooney.
"It is my highest honor to recognize the achievements of SUNY students who have excelled not only academically but as leaders on their campuses and in their communities," said SUNY Chancellor Nancy Zimpher.
The Chancellor's Awards for Student Excellence were created in 1997 to recognize students who have best demonstrated, and have been recognized for, the integration of academic excellence with accomplishments in the areas of leadership, athletics, community service, creative and performing arts, campus involvement, or career achievement.
