Rye Teens Collect 130 Bikes For Children In New Rochelle

RYE, N.Y. -- Linking Handlebars, Miller's Bikes, Bikes4Kids and Larchmont Temple collected and refurbished 130 bicycles and helmets for the underprivileged community of New Rochelle on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The bikes were distributed at Hope Community Services in New Rochelle.

The distribution was at Hope Community Services in New Rochelle. "I appreciate all of the hard work that has been put into this combined distribution," said Linking Handlebars Vice President Cristiana Villani of Rye High School.

"Having the opportunity to branch out and link up with Miller's Bikes, WCC's Bikes4Kids, and Larchmont Temple has been an amazing experience, especially because we are able to touch the lives of even more children."

Linking Handlebars is a not-for profit organization committed to promoting healthier lifestyles for underprivledged children through the gift of a bicycle.

The organization collects gently used bicycles and monetary donations to purchase new bicycles and helmets and to refurbish used bicycles. It provides children the opportunity to experience all the benefits of cycling including exercise, transportation, and enjoyment of the great outdoors.

Linking Handlebars donated bicycles by working with the Carver Center and Don Bosco in Port Chester and the Ward Summer Reading Institute.
