Retired Postal Worker, Robert Gaita Dies at 65

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Robert B. Gaita, a Vietnam War veteran and former postal worker of New Rochelle, died on Oct. 31. He was 65.

Gaita served in the Marine Corps during Vietnam, and he was a member of both the American Legion in New Rochelle and Larchmont.

Born on Jul. 21, 1946 in New Rochelle, he was the son of the late Bruno and Rose Gaita. He went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service for over 30 years.

He is survived by his wife Rosemary Gaita, his sons Brunco Gaita, Michael Gaita and John DeGiacomo, his daughter Debbie Holmes and nine grandchildren. Gaita was predeceased by his sister Mary Sue Baffuto.

Friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and Friday at Lloyd Maxcy & Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Joseph's Church in New Rochelle.
