NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Members of the Pirate Toy Fund  were on hand to meet former Yankees great Mariano Rivera as they donated toys to New Rochele's Refuge of Hope Church on Tuesday, Dec. 10.

Rivera and his wife, Clara, founded the church in 2009 and moved into the old North Avenue Church in New Rochelle.

“Their generosity is amazing,” Rivera said in a statement. “We appreciate the gifts and the effort they made in bringing them down to us. As part of our annual outreach, the toys will be a blessing to families in need.”

The more than 400 toys collected by the Pirate Toy Fund will be distributed by the church to families in need.
