Neydl, New Rochelle Air Corps Veteran, Dies at 87

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Ernest Jacob Neydl, a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and New Rochelle native, died at Westchester Medical Center on Oct. 5 following a brief illness. He was 87.

Mr. Neydl was born on Apr. 20, 1924 in New Rochelle to the late Harold and Meta Pietsch Neydl. He attended Albert Leonard High School and went on to graduate from Cortland University in 1949. Neydl served as a navigator for the Air Corps. during World War II.

On Dec. 26, 1948, he married Patricia Evelyn Russell of Mount Vernon. Mr. Neydl went on to work for Neptune World Wide Moving until his retirement in 1988, a time he took to focus on woodworking and home improvement projects. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Mamaroneck. He was also the second vice commander of American Legion Post 270 in Carmel, N.Y. and a longtime member of Echo Bay Yacht Club.

Mr. Neydl is survived by his daughter Robin Errico and her husband James, his sons Richard Neydl and Russell Neydl with wife Sandra, his grandsons James Errico with wife Erica and Jeremy Errico, and his nephews Harold Neydl, Robert Russell, Kevin Russell and John Russell. He was preceded in death by wife Patricia, his brother Harold, his niece, Jeanmarie Falotico and his nephew Michael Russell.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at N. Cancro Funeral Home in New Rochelle. The funeral service will take place on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home as well. Donations may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mamaroneck, N.Y.
