During his tenure living in New Rochelle, Johnson, the Executive Director of the Youth Bureau, has worked closely with the community through various charitable and volunteer organizations around the city.

To celebrate the work he has done shaping the city’s youth, Johnson has officially been named as the Grand Marshall of this year’s New Rochelle Valenti Family Thanksgiving Day Parade.

According to Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Bob Marrone said that Johnson “has distinguished himself through his work on behalf of the city’s young people, particularly those who need a helping hand to offset economic or other disadvantages.”

As Executive Director of the Youth Bureau, Kelly has fostered partnerships with the Boys and Girls Club, local school district, PTA and the New Rochelle Council of Community Services, among dozens of other organizations. He also sponsors countless programs for the city’s youth, including the Summer Youth Employment Program, Youth Court and the recently launched My Brother’s Keeper initiative.

“More than anything, Kelly Johnson is a role model to the very people for whom he has dedicated his professional life. He is a dynamic leader who motivates colleagues, staff and clients to want to do more for his projects,” Marrone stated. “His manner and personal integrity draw extra effort from those he interacts with.

“Moreover, his work, focusing on tomorrow’s leaders and residents in the Queen City, is helping assure the best and brightest future for New Rochelle.

The 52nd annual New Rochelle Valenti Family Thanksgiving Day Parade will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 before Thanksgiving. The parade route will run anywhere on North Avenue from New Rochelle High School to Main Street and south on Main to Elm Street.
