NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – New Rochelle resident Howard Cohen has been elected to the Rye Arts Center Board of Directors. The Daily Voice asked Cohen about his new position.
Daily Voice: How does it feel to be in the new role?
Cohen: It feels great to be in this role at the Rye Arts Center (RAC) and I am excited to be working with such wonderful people.
DV: Why have you accepted the position?
Cohen: After a year and half serving on the finance committee and dealing with mostly financial issues, I am excited to work on other areas to help RAC continue to grow and serve the community (while still continuing to serve on the finance committee).
DV: What do you want to achieve in your new role?
Cohen: I only hope that with my experience and knowledge with not-for-profits, I will be able to add value and insights to the board. I have been very impressed with the dedication and intelligence of everyone I have had the pleasure of working with so far.
DV: What is your background?
Cohen: I am a partner in WeiserMazars LLP, a public accounting firm. I specialize in not-for-profits and have served not-for-profits for over 25 years. However, being on the inside is quite different than being the auditor, and I find that I am learning much more than I ever hoped to.
