Those elected include new President Chris Selin, a former member of the New Rochelle City Council, with Westchester County Clerk Tim Idoni, College of New Rochelle author and professor Amy Bass and philanthropist Jon Garrow, who is the head of prospect research and development operations at the international AIDS Vaccine Initiative, being tabbed as new board members.
Additionally, a new roster of New Rochelle Public Library Foundation “Officers” were appointed, led by co-Vice Presidents Gwen Adolph and Betsy Kravits, new Secretary Cheryl Archbald and Treasurer Mindy Eisenberg.
The New Rochelle Public Library Foundation consists of community volunteers who have a mutual interest in promoting the well-being of the city’s library system. They’re charged with several fundraising initiatives each year to help modernize and expand libraries and “ensuring that the library remains a vital educational and cultural center in a diverse community.”
Since they began to support the library more than two decades ago, the Foundation has raised more than $3 million, establishing the popular music library, business center, teen room and the Ossie Davis Theater.
“As the needs of our community change and technology advances, the Foundation stands ready to ensure the future well being of the library,” Selin said. “(We will continue) to support the initiatives that enhance opportunities for learning, exploration and public discourse.”
