According to New Rochelle Mayor Noam Bramson, there are so many families that cannot afford any summer activities for their children. A week of summer camp can be life changing for these kids.

"Contributing to the Campership Fund is a great way to have a meaningful impact on a child’s life," Bramson said. "And now it’s easier than ever to support the cause through Campership’s GoFundMe site."

The organization works to help reduce the stress on needy parents and children by giving them a break from their stressful home lives, he added.

The Campership Fund exists solely to send needy children to camp.

"The Fund is now serving its second generation of children, and many of those who were loyal contributors in the past are no longer with us," he added. "As numbers of children needing assistance increase, so too, do camp costs. This is why we are now reaching out with this "go fund me" campaign -- to help fill the gap."

The group's goal this year is to send 130 additional kids to camp this summer. The average cost per student for one week is $150. So far, they have raised $4,700 of their $20,000 goal. To donate, visit GoFundMe.
