NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. The New Rochelle Planning Board will hold a rescheduled meeting on Tuesday to discuss a request by Sound Shore Medical Center to build an office building and parking garage near the center.
The meeting was canceled because we did not have a quorum, said New Rochelle senior planner Lynn Brooks-Avni in an e-mail. The meeting will be in New Rochelle City Hall, Annex Room B-1, 90 Beaufort Place. It was canceled July 31 due to prior commitments of board members.
The board will meet to begin the process for obtaining approval for plans for the 100,000- square-foot project.
During its June 12 committee of the whole session, the New Rochelle City Council was presented with a proposed $35 million project to create a $9 million parking garage and $26 million medical office building next to the Sound Shore Medical Center at 16 Guion Place
This building is definitely adequate for health care for the surrounding community, and the New Rochelle community, said Landmark Healthcare Facilities President Anthony Lampasona during his groups presentation to the council.
The office building would be funded by the medical center itself through private financing, and investments with Landmark.
Construction would begin this December, and be completed by next December if all goes according to plan.
