Irving Tanen, 100, New Rochelle Laundromat Owner

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Irving Tanen, a former New Rochelle business owner, died May 31. He was 100.

Tanen was born Aug. 14, 1911 in Bronx, N.Y. to David and Ida Tanen. A resident of the Bronx, he owned and operated a laundry business in New Rochelle for many years.

He was predeceased by his wife, Miriam and a brother, Nathan. Tanen is survived by a son, Jerry Tanen; a daughter, Dorothy Culpon; a sister, Lillian Portnoy; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Monday at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Valhalla. George T. Davis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
