Hugh C. Follen, 71, New Rochelle Marine Veteran

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Longtime New Rochelle resident Hugh C. Follen died Thursday, May 10. He was 71.  

He was born Nov. 28, 1940, in New Rochelle to Charles and Dorothy Mellars Follen. From 1963 to 1967, Follen served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served two years as a combat engineer in Vietnam. 

Follen married Sylvia Celona on Oct. 26, 1968. He enjoyed building model trains and running the layout with his grandchildren. 

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Sylvia, are his children, John (Elizabeth), Christopher (Trynia), Michael Pearce, Thomas Pearce and Lori (Stephen) Tange; a brother, William, and nine grandchildren. 

Visiting hours are from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle. A Mass will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
