NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. Harold Alfred Daley, a former New Rochelle resident and a former assistant principal of New Rochelle High School, died May 12. He was 96..
He was born on Nov. 10, 1915 to Harold Chase Daley and Mabel Noxon Daley in Amsterdam, N.Y. A World War II veteran, Daley served in the Navy. He married Janet Hemens on Aug. 16, 1947 in Sidney, N.Y.
Daley raised his family in New Rochelle and worked at the high school for many years. Once he retired, he became principal of the Robinson School in Santurce, San Juan, Puerto Rico for seven years. Daley moved from Stockbridge, Mass., to Satellite Beach, Fla., in 1986.
He loved going to the summer home in Stockbridge and taught a number of generations to fish and boat on the lake. Daley enjoyed playing sequence, canasta and other card games with his friends and family. He also enjoyed fixing things around the house and making things in his garage workshop.
Daley is survived by his wife of 65 years; three children, Catherine Katen, Robert (Elisabeth) Daley and Pegi (Christopher) Rodemann; a sister, Jean Marino; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Satellite Beach United Methodist Church. Funeral arrangements are by Beach Funeral Home , where a guestbook is available.
