Donald Beaton Verrilli Jr., who was born in New Rochelle, turns 59 on Wednesday.
Verrilli Jr., a lawyer who is the current solicitor general of the United States, was born June 29, 1957. President Barack Obama nominated Verrilli to the post on Jan. 26, 2011. Verrilli previously served in the Obama administration as the associate deputy U.S. attorney general, and deputy counsel to the president.
Verrilli was a senior litigator with the law firm Jenner & Block. He specialized in telecommunications, media and First Amendment law. Verilli has participated in more than 100 cases before the U.S, Supreme Court and has argued seventeen.
