NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Edward J. Irwin, Jr., 91, a lifelong resident of New Rochelle, died April 19.
Irwin was an auto salesman for many years at Hory Chevrolet and Griffin Ford.
He was born June 18, 1920, in New Rochelle, to the late Edward J. Irwin, Sr. and Helen Klotz Irwin. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 8 in New Rochelle.
Irwin was predeceased by his first wife, the former Ann Gimbut. He is survived by his wife, the former Helen Schappert; two sons, Edward J. Irwin III and Peter Irwin; his twin brother, William Irwin; two sisters, Ellen and Jane; and two grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at Lloyd Maxcy and Sons Beauchamp Chapel in New Rochelle, where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion Post 8.
