On Monday, officials with the organization announced that following months of public discussions, they would bring a Beer and Wine Garden to the fourth annual Street Fair, transforming a portion of the downtown business district into a “park-like” setting featuring local brewers and wineries.

Earlier this year, through social media polling, NR Future determined that a wine and beer garden was the most popular option for the Street Fair, topping open street areas for children’s recreation and other options.

At the fair in September, Division Street, just south of Main, will be sectioned off, offering attendees the opportunity to sample and purchase their favorite local beverages. Sorell Wine Bar Bistro and Gnarly Vine will represent New Rochelle with a series of wine and cheese combinations, while Yonkers Brewing Co. will provide craft beers. There will be food pairings courtesy of Texas Roadhouse and AJ’s Burgers.

The beer and wine garden will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the Street Fair on Saturday, Sept. 18. Locals interested in volunteering with NR Future during the fair can contact NR Future Community Liaison Ashley Aldrich by email at ashley@nrfuture.com. Volunteers will be committing to working approximately six hours a month through August, with a slightly larger commitment in September when the Street Fair approaches.

“Based on popular demand by members of NR Future, it is our pleasure to enhance the festivity at the fourth annual downtown Street Fair with a Wine and Beer Garden,” she said while announcing the initiative. “We hope to see everyone come out and enjoy the 2016 New Rochelle Street Fair and all that is has to offer.”
