NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. Senior citizens learned about their health and diabetes Thursday at the second annual Diabetes Wellness Expo at the Hugh A. Doyle Senior Center in New Rochelle.
Monroe College students and members of the New Rochelle Business Improvement District helped the seniors with free blood tests and provided information about the symptoms of the disease.
Seniors also received tips about how to live healthy lifestyles with diabetes, and how to learn about the illness online, which one senior described as informative.
The event brings in health care providers, businesses and local diabetes-related organizations to teach people how to cope with the disease.
The expo was organized and sponsored by the King Graduate School of Monroe College, the New Rochelle Prescription Center, the City of New Rochelle, the citys Business Improvement District, the Diabetes Shoppe and Westchester Countys Livable Communities.
